Essay - Should girls be treated on par with boys

Essay - Should girls be treated on par with boys

Children are God’s creation. God made them to be treated equally, though they have specific physical functions, parents should treat both, girls and boys the same.

Man was always the hunter, the provider and the bread winner of the family. His job was to do the outdoor work and the woman was the homemaker. The responsibility of bearing children and taking care of the household work, bringing up the children, cooking meals was the main function of a woman. Both had their responsibilities to shoulder. Even in those times there were some women who broke the mould and did things differently and we have instances of women who have fought battles and done various “manly” activities.

With the advancement of education and technology, women realized the importance of being educated and with further liberalization, women started attending offices and also became equal breadwinners of the family. The women initially took up less burdensome work and became school teachers, clerical posts in banks and government organizations. This employment helped them manage both the home and attend work as this work did not involve working late hours and with a little help from an elder grandparent, they juggled both office and home easily.

When women entered politics, and they decided that they needed more than just being educated and doing simple jobs. They encouraged the new generations to study to higher levels and made school education for girls free and are providing bigger benefits to girls to encourage them to study and hold positions of authority in the workplace. This has made women powerful and various senior positions are held by women. Multinational companies have an “equal opportunities” employment rule and this allows women to apply for any position they are qualified and for. Today CEOs, astronauts, business women are some examples of the success women have achieved in various fields along side being housewives and mothers.

Women are on par with men at every level and stage of life, some more liberated men have even chosen to become “house husbands” while the woman of the house goes out to work and earn a healthy and lucrative income for the family. It was the ignorance and lack of knowledge in earlier times when girls or women were considered less and not on equal terms with boys or men. Both are equal and must be treated equally everywhere and every time.
